Kick-Off Meeting for the Second Funding Phase
Back Kick-Off Meeting for the Second Funding Phase of SPP2311 on December 10, 2024 On December 10, 2024, the kick-off meeting for the second funding phase of the Priority Programme SPP2311 “Robust Coupling of Continuum-biomechanical In Silico Models to Establish Active Biological System Models for Later Use in Clinical Applications — Co- Design of Modelling, Numerics and Usability” was successfully held in a digital format. Participants from all associated projects came together to introduce their research initiatives and discuss key topics relevant to the programme. During the meeting, each project was presented, providing an overview of objectives, methods, and expected contributions to the overarching goals of SPP2311. The event also included discussions on general organizational matters and fostered an informative exchange of ideas among participants. The meeting highlighted the collaborative approach and interdisciplinary nature of the Priority Programme. We look forward to the outcomes of this second phase and to continued constructive cooperation among all projects. This marks an important step in advancing the research goals of SPP2311, and we are eager to see the contributions and results from all participating teams in the coming years.
Kick-Off Meeting des SPP2311
Back Kick-Off Meeting des SPP2311 The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved a new Priority Programme (SPP2311) on the “Robust Coupling of Continuum-biomechanical In Silico Models to Establish Active Biological System Models for Later Use in Clinical Applications – Co-design of Modelling, Numerics and Usability”. The programme consists of 11 research projects, each of which being a collaborative effort of interdisciplinary, Germany-wide research groups from medicine, mathematics, computer science and engineering. It will also support research activities in the Stuttgart Cluster of Excellence “Data-Integrated Simulation Science (SimTech)”. The programme is coordinated by Prof. Oliver Röhrle, PhD, Principal Investigator in SimTech and Director of the Institute for Modelling and Simulation of Biomechanical Systems. The Kick-off meeting for all participants of SPP2311 will take place on May 23-24th, 2022 in Stuttgart. The aim of this event is to get to know the respective projects and to promote mutual exchange between the project participants. The agenda further includes general organisational aspects of the programme.
SPP2311 – Annual Meeting in Magdeburg

Back SPP2311 – Annual Meeting in Magdeburg From September 11-13, 2023, the Otto von Guericke Universität Magdeburg hosted the annual meeting of DFG-funded SPP 2311, a meeting that underscored the significance of biomechanical modelling in biomedical science and engineering. The SPP 2311 annual meeting proved insightful, covering a diverse range of topics including liver diseases, coronary artery problems, neuromuscular diseases, cerebral aneurysms, meniscus tissue regeneration, and neuromodulation. The event fostered collaborations between modellers and experimentalists, enabling the exchange of recent findings. Participants tackled challenges in multiscale modelling, focusing on coupling methods for fluid, mechanical, and electromechanical systems. Additionally, topics such as image processing and acquisition were discussed. Apart from academic discussions, the meeting provided a conducive environment for networking and collaboration. Attendees engaged in discussions, shared ideas, and established partnerships. This collaborative atmosphere generated new research opportunities, emphasizing the importance of open communication and data sharing. Such interactions laid the foundation for innovative solutions to biomedical challenges. The SPP 2311 Annual Meeting in Magdeburg exemplified the power of collaboration. By uniting experts from diverse fields, the event not only showcased the latest in biomechanical modelling but also encouraged future advancements. Through shared knowledge and collaborative efforts, attendees explored the frontiers of biomedical science and engineering, promising a future enriched by collective expertise and mutual cooperation. A huge “Thank you” to the hosts of the Otto-von Guericke University in Magdeburg, Philipp Berg and Sylvia Saalfeld as well as to the organizing team and program committee. We are looking forward to the next annual meeting in 2024.
