Laura Schmid from the Chair for Continuum Biomechanics and Mechanobiology, Institute of Modelling and Simulation of Biomechanical Systems of the University of Stuttgart visited Hannover Medical School and ISPO Deutschland Congress to learn about the latest progress in amputation and prosthetic care.

Complex surgical interventions on the neuromuscular system represent a potential target for computer simulation support. Our common goal with our partners in SPP2311 is to develop an in silico framework to predict the influence of surgical techniques on the musculature and proprioceptive feedback.

Therefore, we are pleased that Laura Schmid was able to deepen the relationship with our clinical cooperation partner Dr. Jennifer Ernst during a visit to Hannover. Further, she visited the Congress of ISPO Deutschland (International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics) and learned how patients in prosthetic care benefit from biomechanical research.
